Fight Crime and Fear Crime

Some of the Victims. How do we stop it? If the father of Lee Kean Yip (deceased) could come out to the forefront and speak about the need to improve public safety so that the said incident which happened to his family would not occur in our family or to our loved ones, we should grab this chance to join forces with him. This period of time is most difficult for Mr Lee and his family yet he thinks about our safety and the society. It is an act of a victim’s family fighting back.

We can be angry because we are not provided the very basic - safe environment. But, what is the point of just being angry? Let us put our forces together- People’s Power. Your attendance and participation in the discussion on 17.8.2006 at 7.30pm - Hotel Excelsior Ipoh would be a step towards improving public safety.

  1. At the risk of sounding too radical, I suggest we walk with a baseball bat.

The police cannot be everywhere at the same time. These criminals would evade the police and pry on lonely, vulnerable prey. They stalk and wait.

It is only up to us to protect ourselves. Malaysia is heading towards the 19th century Wild West of America.

Avoid putting yourself in a vulnerable spot and prepare to fight back. There is no one for us but ourselves only.

Sad, so sad. We are coming into this.

  2. My deepest condolence to Lee Kean Yip’s family.
In my family of 4 women - 3 has been victims of snatch thieves with 2 nearly severely slashed right at our doorstep - I can appreciate the fear, the trauma and the pain. I have written to TV station and newspaper to call attention to this sort of crime but to no avail. Malaysia indeed has been reduce to a sorry state when the rakyat lives in a state of fear !! The DPM, Police, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye continues to live in a state of denial by saying that the stats are improving and harps at the rakyat that we have to be equally RESPONSIBLE for our own safety which insinuates that the victims have been irresponsible hence they were targetted which I think is ludricous !! Somehow the burden of responsibility seems to have shifted to the common people which I think further emboldens the perpetrators who will further taunt and mock the law of this country if not the powers to be by continuing in this trail of crime.
I hope the government will consider elevate the punishment (capital punsihment) for snatch thieves which would be the best deterrent.

  3. Makes me wonder why bother sending 1,000 of our troops to Lebanon when Israel indicated that Malaysian and Indonesian troops are not welcome?

U know Lee Kean Yip was murdered accross the road from Wardiburn Army Camp? We have a whole division of soldiers sworn to protect the nation sitting just accross the road where this happened.

What does this tell us? Robbers know that the police and army can but will not stop them.

To the soldiers’ defense, I did see, AFTER the murder, soldiers patrolling the adjacent Taman Bunga Raya with bicycles (when snatch thieves have motorcycles) and torch lights (when robbers have parangs). I don’t think this will last long.

In the 19th century, when train robberies are rampant in the wild west, US Army sat on the trains and sorted out the criminals.

The amry is a vast consumption of tax payers’ money and they have to pay us back. It has been a while since the Emergency and “Battle of Bukit Pelandok”.

  4. My deepest condolence to the Lee family. Especially when I’ve seen Kean Yip since he was a baby till about 12. He was babysat by a neighbour. Memories of his cute smile lingered on. The lost to his family is great indeed.

Why are there crime-prone areas? Because those areas are laden with tidak apa attitude of the police. If the police did care, they would have step up more patrols, leading to the arrests of the criminals. Or at worst, the criminals would be discouraged from the frequent police patrols. So, why did a crime prone area remain as that? Because the police don’t CARE!

  5. I was recently traveled to Bali & Surabaya in East Java. Before were to Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, China & etc…

One thing is comparing of these countries to our country; do you know what the main different is?? I could see/ notice their Policeman visible in the city, road, and rural area & everywhere around even in midnight; in Malaysia, frankly, I hardly see our Policeman or notice them in everyday, I don’t know why & where they’re all gone?
