Release the 5 Hindraf Leaders and Abolish ISA

When I was driving to Parliament yesterday and stopped at the traffic light along Jalan Tun Perak, suddenly something struck me as I saw the public crossing the road.

I asked myself, if the public who are voters in Kota Alam Shah could accept M.Manoharan as their elected representative, wasn’t that a clear message that the 5 Hindraf leaders who are currently held under ISA should not be further detained but be released immediately.

If 12,699 persons who are of 21 years and above made a stand that they want M.Manoharan to be their elected representative, isn’t that good enough to show that they believe and trust him? They want him to speak up for them in the State Assembly. As such, how can an individual decision to further detained the 5 Hindraf leaders to stand?

Also, how can the reason, that the 5 Hindraf leaders are threat to national security stand, when Kota Alam Shah voters decide otherwise? They do not fear him. Majority of Kota Alam Shah wants M.Manoharan to work for them.

As such, it is not right for the Prime Minister or his Cabinet Minister to further allow the detention of the 5 Hindraf leaders.

Abolish Internal Security Act and released all detained under the said draconian law without further delay.

Hishammuddin: I take responsibility for the keris waving

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has admitted that his raising of the keris was among the causes of the Barisan Nasional’s poor performance in the general election.

Apologising to all Malaysians for his action, he said: “If it affected anyone, I cannot run away from the reality of it. I apologise to the non-Malays and the Malays.

“To the non-Malays because of the fear to a symbol which was not my intention. And to the Malays for not being able to uphold their symbol of heritage.”

Describing it as a “sad lesson”, he said as a leader, he must be gracious and accept the consequences because the party came first. ..(read The Star for the complete report) (more…)

The Understanding

For the past few days, we read about political leaders giving comments about the appointment of Lee Kah Choon, a former leader of Gerakan.

Before I write further, I need to stress that I am neither here to support nor against his decision of accepting the said appointment.

After reading yesterday’s paper, I told myself, why can’t Kah Choon’s decision be respected? Does he deserves these labelling:- opportunist and lack in principle from his former comrades. What about all the contributions he had made to the said Party? It all vanished just like that, because he decided to move to another path? (more…)

This letter was sent to Malaysiakini.

I feel pain reading this letter. We, the oppositions MP have raised similar issues many times in the Parliament. How long do we need to wait for the BN led government to realise, to put the interest of the people FIRST!

This noon, I returned a missed call. The mother called up and wanted to ask about writing an appeal letter. Her daughter ’s application for Matriculation was rejected. She managed to contact the State Exco in charge of Education for assistance when I did not answer the call.

In fact, a week ago, I received 2 calls calling for assistance too. One was so worried that the copies of the application was passed to the aunt for me. The applicant scored flying colors yet the application was rejected.

Another, it was via email. I assisted her in drafting the appeal letter. (more…)
