Parliament: Any latest development on Nurin, Sharlinie and Asmawi?

Please read the last paragraph of the reply.

I do agree that we have roles to play to ensure a safe environment exists. We can explain to the minor but how much will they understand?

They were playing at the ground play ( Sharlinie) or at a nearby pasar malam which was 500 meter away from the home ( Nurin) and then, gone missing. CCTV can be installed in these areas?

When I was young, I cycled with my cousins to every corner of the village from morning till evening. My grandmother never fear for my safety.

Recently, once I was in the washroom of a mall when a mother shouted at the young son, trying to get him to wait for her in the female washroom. The young son refused. The mother then said,” if not you will be kidnapped.” This scenario, I believe is common.

How long do we need to live in fear? I do not even feel safe at home.

Below is the question and reply:-

  1. “Pihak polis masih berusaha.” Same old excuse. Meanwhile the kidnapper/murderer must be laughing with his rempit buddies at the incompetency of the PDRM. he must be a hero among them for getting away with such a dastardly crime. Maybe they’re planning on a repeat since the police are so busy investigating the 20 reports on Karpal Singh.

  2. Come on, even VK Lingam was caught in ‘CCTV’. It’s not a surprise if a criminal caught on camera could just rephrase VK Lingam’s statement like ‘he looks like me’ etc.
And what happened to KLIA’s CCTV when a robbery took place a few weeks ago?

  3. Generally speaking, the policing authorities are forever busy,
what with escort duties for VVIP’s, daily quota for issuing
of summons to traffic offenders, mat rempit’s and the influx
of people posing as tourist but making a fast buck in the
burgeoning ‘entertainment’ industry etc.,etc.. Give them
time, maybe a year or two?

  4. The lack of progress in terms of investigations of crimes is distressing to say the very least. Even high profile crimes appear to be unsolved, and even when brought to court, end up in acquitals. Is there any way to audit the work of the Police Department? I propose an audit of work for the entire police force. Perhaps in terms of the ratio of the number of crime reports made to the number of cases prosecuted. In addition another marker of efficiency would be the ratio of crimes reported to those successfully solved (i.e prosecution with conviction). I have a nagging suspicion that this would be less than 10% if analysed properly. I’ve had 2 break-ins in a place I rented in a town in the Kelang Valley in the space of 4 months. Both times there was no attempt by police to try to investigate the crime scene apart from taking some photos, which were probably for a report that would have been filed and forgotten. Basic crime solving seems to be a dead art among the police officers of today. The solution is not CCTV’s and peeping toms everywhere but a leaner better trained police force, perhaps with better paid intelligent officers.

  5. Stupid excuses from the government. If the government is efficient in fighting crime rate, we won’t be so scare walking alone in the dark. i don’t see any effort from the government in fighting crime and keep our country safe. Deploy more police to a certain area simply means ‘cari makan’ in that area. The police always busy stopping motorcyclist seeking for its potential victim for ‘duit kopi’.’sebagai lgh pencegahan.. penglibatan dan kerjasama masyarakat..bblabalbbal’..means ask us not to eat rice when the price is soaring and try eat potatoes.

  6. Po Kuan, you concern for them is real. I heard about child abduction. The abductor amputates the kids’ hand, leg and tongue to disable them and made them beggars to earn money for them. I have personally seen such beggars before and they didn’t seem to be born that way. So the government really have to seriously look into the issue
