What is the Purpose of the Government’s Motion in Parliament on Monday? - Fong
I have copied the proposed motion to be tabled on Monday, 23.6.2008 in Parliament by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. Read below.
Why was not a motion be tabled earlier by the government to seek co-operation, support and solution to face the challenges before the fuel hike announcement on 5.6.2008? Why now?
After reading the details of this motion, I wonder what is the purpose or objective of the Ministry for moving this motion? If you read the first paragraph, it sounds like the government is trying to justify its decision of the fuel hike which further leads to prices increase for food and other comodities and, wholely putting the blame on the “global phenomenon and not within the government’s control”. If so, the difficulties and hardship some of us are facing now, BN government is not to be blamed? Ha!
Why are we so hard hit by this global phenomenon? Internally, we are weak and unable to face to the global challenges. Why? The answer is poor management , mismanagement and wastage of funds and resources and leadership crisis. Also, corrupted system.
If you read the remaining four paragraphs, how do you expect me to understand and support the measures to restructure the subsidy for fuel, if the government has not disclosed its spending on the profit made by Petronas? In 2006, the 4.4 billion saved subsidy which we were told for improved public transport, any improvement? If yes, we have a better alternative to move around in the city.
Why was there no consultation with MPs regarding the measures to lessen the hardships and difficulties of the people until today? My worries is, the “future saved subsidy” will be taken advantage by some Ministries for elephant projects or astronaunt programme II.
We are the ones who have been seeking for accountability and transparency inside and outside Parliament. Those who have been abetting and conspiring in forming this corrupted government which caused the present internally weak government and leading Malaysia backwards are to be responsible for the sufferings, hardships and difficulties we are going through now. The hardcore poor and poor are not as much affected than the average income earners, the majority of us.
We, the opposition MPs are ever ready to work together for the nations but, the BN leaders should come “with clean hand” by admitting to some mistakes and mismanagment which has led to the present state of affairs and further, end all discriminatory policies, treatments to Pakatan Rakyat led states.
The motion seems to me, more for the Prime Minister seeking his leadership support and confidence.

mencadangkan:

There’s nothing substantive about this motion except to show support and strength for the BN government. Well, it could go otherwise.
Why not you put this motion as a referendum to the public and let see how the public votes compare to their MPs.
Thank you

Spot on YB Fong….
Cantonese “sin zam hao zou”… you kill the people then only explain to people why you kill him/her…
What for asking for support when you first unilaterally announce your policy?
Our country’s politics has transformed the legislative division into merely an instrument… a rubberstamp… and that’s where the problems come from… No need to ask parliament one lah… we do what we like to do… then only ask them to say aye… everything ok…
