The Hope

I ensure that I would not miss the historical moment, the return of Anwar Ibrahim to Parliament. I was caught in a terrible traffic jam yesterday due to the rehearsal of merdeka’s day parade. I have checked and found out that similar rehearsal would be held today.

As I was near the “bridge” leading to the Parliament building, I saw two police patrol cars stationed at the road side with some police officers. An additional security check by the police was also placed half way the said bridge though the existing guard house with few security officers were in operation like the usual days.

Also the waste of manpower? What is the concern of the police or “the people at the top”? Anwar is now the elected representative, Member of Parliament of Malaysia.

Last Sunday, when I was at Permatang Pauh, to be specific, two ceramahs, one at Sg Lembu and another at Seberang Jaya, I called on the voters to send Anwar back to Parliament, for all Malaysians. Also, I emphasized the sacrifices and contributions by Wan Azizah. There was a need to increase the majority votes of Anwar to send out a strong message to BN government that we want a change. The BN leadership has not changed since March 8 except, Abdullah announcing his successor , Najib. I said at the ceramah, “When you think of Najib to be the next Prime Minister, you will immediately think of Mongolian, then, you will be shivering.”

When I walked into Parliament yesterday, after the result on last Tuesday, a journalist asked me to comment about the winning of Anwar in a sentence. I told her, ” Now, there is hope for Malaysians.” She gave me a surprised look.

Indeed, I could feel the high spirit in Parliament and myself, personally, is hopeful that there will be better days ahead.

Thank you, Datin Wan Azizah for your sacrifices, contributions and struggle for us.

  1. Mdm MP, my sincere thanks to you for your selfless service all this while for us, Malaysians. Even though I am not from your constituency, you are one of the MPs I always look forward to reading about online and in the newspapers. You have my admiration because you always carry yourself with honour and you show great respect to everyone and treat them equally, friend and foe alike. I have been following your and your PR colleagues all-out campaigning in Permatang Pauh, and I want to extend my sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude for fighting so hard for the people. Thank you and thank you again. Well done and congratulations! May this be just the beginning of many more victories for justice, truth, and equality for all the peoples of Malaysia.

  2. I felt sad that Wan Azizah stepped down. Her willingness to relinquish power speaks a lot about her as a person.

She has indeed sacrificed a lot for this nation and to me, she joins the ranks of sonia gandhi where she is larger than life and politics.

  3. Wan Azizah’s tenacity over the last 10 years is highly admired and commended. This speaks volumes about her as a person, a mother, a wife and a politician. I salute her! As the saying goes, ‘behind every successful man is a woman’.

  6. The feeling of hopes is not only felt by you. It is also felt by me. The feeling that Malaysia is going developement further, the next generation will have the sense of belonging and those bright children with poor parents can still have their dream come true.

I talk to someone yesterday, she said that her cousin brother have a dream to become a doctor. Getting straight ‘A’ in his STPM does not secure him a place in local ‘U’. Parents are too poor to send him because unable to have his dream, he is now a little insane. I told her for her cousin, blame the government on all the quota they are talking about. At that time when the policy that was make, the (non-bumi) politician that sign the ok agreement, must have come from the rich family. He forgotten about the poor non-bumi.

With the feeling of hope, I hope children like these can have their dream come true.

Wan Azizah, is a great lady. I can see the smile of happiness on her face, when her husband won. That smile was not there for a long time.

  8. YB Fong
I support Pakatan and particularly DAP for their cause, but can’t help being sceptical about the claim of Sept 16 power change. I believe many Pakatan supporters feel the same way. I just wonder YB, do you really think it will happen as claimed by DSAI, you really really think so? Or you don’t? I think at least some DAP leaders should question this, how come none questioned DSAI about this so far? I’m disappointed that so far everyone just listened to him without questioning anything, what will happen then if he really becomes PM one day, will he turn out to be like Dr M where nobody dares to question him?
Let’s assume Pakatan manage to get enough YBs to cross over, do you think it is an honorable way to gain power? Do you YB really think so? Does the whole DAP camp think so? I thought DAP which upholds the principle of Democracy should at least suggest that the YBs resign from BN and seek a re-election under Pakatan banner?
I hope there is hope for all Malaysians, I also hope DAP will not compromise and turn out to be like another MCA one day.

  9. It’s announced today that about 40 MPs will cross over to Pakatan Rakyat. Hope this can be materialized, otherwise Malaysia would have no hope.
